The Ocoee Scenic Byway is the first designated National Forest Scenic Byway in the United States, winding through the Cherokee National Forest just across the state line from Blue Ridge, GA. This picturesque route offers panoramic views of the Ocoee River, dramatic cliffs, and lush mountain landscapes. Along the drive, visitors can explore historic sites such as the Ocoee Whitewater Center—home of the 1996 Olympic kayaking events—and enjoy access to hiking trails, picnic areas, and scenic overlooks. Especially popular in the fall, the byway is a favorite for leaf-peeping and peaceful drives through the Appalachian foothills.
