Annual Helen to the Atlantic Balloon Race

Annual Helen to the Atlantic Balloon Race
The 52nd Annual Helen to the Atlantic Balloon Race is scheduled to commence on June 5, 2025, at 7:00 AM in the Alpine Village of Helen, Georgia. As the South's oldest balloon event and the United States' only long-distance hot air balloon race, this unique competition challenges pilots to navigate approximately 225 miles to the finish line at I-95, anywhere between Maine and Miami.
The race typically spans two days, with some participants completing the journey in one day, while others may take up to four days. Spectators can enjoy the spectacle of around 20 vibrant hot air balloons ascending en masse, weather permitting. In addition to the main race, local flying events are planned for Thursday evening, as well as Friday and Saturday, with flights occurring around 7:30 AM and 6:00 PM each day. These local events offer opportunities for the public to engage by assisting with balloon inflations, joining chase crews, or experiencing tethered balloon rides.
