There are several public boat ramps that offer access at different points along Lake Nottely, plus there is a county maintained Poteete Creek Park that offers lake access, a white sandy beach swimming area, and picnic facilities.

Considered a easy route this 2.5 mile loop trail that has a elevation gain of 262 ft and is a great trail for hiking, mountain biking, & running. Dogs are welcome, but must be on a leash. There are stoping points and rest benches with beautiful views of the lake. There are also quite a few spots to jump in the water for a swim if you desire! Everyone should bring water on this hike and if you plan on jumping in the water at the lake bring a towel! In the spring keep an eye out for the elusive pink lady’s slipper. This is an orchid that is native to the area and it requires acidic soil. You can also see wild turkeys and white-tailed deer passing through the woods.

This 1.0 mile moderatedly rated trail is a nice easy grade up or down based on which end you start at. Located on the Nottely Dam Reservation about nine mile north of Blairsville, GA. The trail follows the creek for most of the way and either starts or ends in a picinic area beside Nottely River.

Lake Nottely boasts some fantastic fish species to catch. According to most anglers, fishing at this location is a dream, offering great opportunities to catch record-breaking big trophy fish, especially between December and June. This is a perfect time, when food sparsity tends to be higher, making many large species, such as striped bass, more acceptable to go for fishing bait, resulting in some remarkable catches. Other than the Striped Bass the lake is home to the Black Crappie, Bluegill ,Redear Sunfish, Redbreast Sunfish, Green Sunfish, Channel Catfish, Largemouth Bass, Spotted Bass, Striped Bass, and Hybrid Striped Bass.
