Cataloochee Ski Area

Located about two hours from downtown Blue Ridge in Maggie Valley, NC, Cataloochee is know to be a great mountain for learning how to ski. A unique feature of this ski area is the Terrain Park with trick rails for snowboarding.  Another highlight is Tube World, the home of great snow tubing fun each winter!  The groomed slope is made for riding specially designed inner tubes.  You’ll ride their moving carpet lift to the top of the hill, then tube your way down the snow-covered run.

Sugar Mountain Resort (Ski Southeast)

Located about four hours from Blue Ridge, Sugar Mountain Resort is the closest major ski resort to the area. It boasts the largest vertical drop (1,200 feet) in the state of North Carolina! The resort offers ski equipment rentals, guided tours and instruction, restaurants and on-site dining, and more. In addition to skiing and snowboarding, it features tubing, snowshoeing, and ice skating.

Ski Southeast is a great resource for Sugar Mountain and other ski resorts in the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic region. Ski Southeast provides ski reports, ski resort reviews, ski vacations, ski videos, and more.
